The uterus itself lies within the pelvic bones that are supported by muscles and tissues. When the muscles and tissues in the pelvic area weaken and/or stretch, the uterus will descend from its position. The more down the position of the uterus, the more noticeable the bumps out of the vagina.

The uterus is divided into several severity levels, namely:

  • First level. Part of the cervix stands out towards the vagina.
  • Second level. Some cervix drops to the vaginal mouth limit.
  • Third level. The entire cervix is out of the vagina.
  • Fourth level. The whole uterus is inside or outside the vagina.

At first level, the uterus down usually does not give a clear symptom. Patients generally will feel the complaints when the uterus drops in level two and so on. The symptoms are:

  • The pelvic cavity feels fuller when coughing, standing or lifting heavyweights.
  • Pain in the vaginal area.
  • Urine disorders.
  • Uncomfortable walking.
  • Bleeding Through the vagina.
  • Difficult during sexual intercourse.

At the time of examination, the doctor will ask the patient to make sure how severe the uterus drops as you are experiencing. If needed, the doctor will also conduct supporting examinations, such as pelvic ultrasound, urinary tract X-ray and urodynamic tests to examine bladder function.

If the test results find the presence of the uterus down, the doctor will provide the most appropriate treatment with the degree of disease severity.
